Custom Manufacturing of Surgical Devices for the Medical Industry

At Zeman Manufacturing Company, we are known for our custom metal tube fabricating and precision cutting skills. We recently received an order for suction tubes for metal surgical devices. Due the outstanding breadth of our tube fabricating capabilities, we were able to fabricate and deliver these complex parts to the customer with a quick turnaround time.
Recognizing that any device to be used in a medical application has to be absolutely burr-free, we used our automatic electrochemical cutting machine to accurately and repeatedly cut burr-free 304 stainless steel to tight tolerances. On our production CNC machine center, we reamed the ID on of the tube to ±.001” and then spot faced the tubing in order to provide a smooth flat retaining surface for an overmolded plastic tip. The tubes were then swaged prior to the bending of multiple radii, which was performed on a high precision multiple stack CNC tube bender. All of the required gages and checking fixtures were designed and built in-house to facilitate 100% inspection of all profiles. Finally the tubes were electropolished, passivated and cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaning system to ensure sterility.
Thanks to our robust network of suppliers, overall knowledge, and capability to create custom tooling and gages, we were able to deliver in two months what our competitors can barely do in six. We now manufacture 20,000 of these medical devices per year to the customer’s tight specifications. This San Francisco, CA customer has cited us as their best supplier and has recommended us to associates looking to source similar advanced products.
